8 Ways Google Fiber in Provo Would Hasten the Lord’s Work

Today at 1:30 p.m. the mayor of Provo, John Curtis may announce Google Fiber is coming to Provo!

While it’s not certain this will be the announcement, it’s quite possible.  I’m so excited about the announcement today that I woke up around 3:30 a.m. and didn’t want to go back to bed. I thought it’d be fun to think of some of the possible implications of having Google Fiber in Provo. Here are a list of ways Google Fiber would bless Provo residents and help further the work of the Lord.

8 Ways Google Fiber in Provo would hasten the Lord’s work

  1. It would bring Provo, Utah into the national spotlight and increase exposure of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  2. It would help Provo become a tech center and attract talented employees for LDS member-owned businesses.
  3. It would give Latter-day Saints in Provo an advantage to use new technologies to teach themselves and others the Gospel (for example being able to stream HQ videos about The Church.)
  4. It would help Latter-day Saint entrepreneurs lead in business and have more social and technical resources to support the growth of the kingdom of God on the Earth.
  5. It would bring increased exposure to LDS temples, since Provo hosts two LDS temple sites.
  6. It would bring in more tourists to Provo, who would subsequently learn more about The Church.
  7. It would help LDS bloggers gain traction online and create more uplifting content about The Church.
  8. It would attract LDS entrepreneurs to Utah and facilitate business networking.  LDS businesses would be able to collaborate in new ways to increase their positive impact on the world.

Today the big announcement will be made by Mayor John Curtis at 1:30 p.m.  If the announcement is that Google Fiber is coming to Provo, I suggest we all give a prayer of gratitude.  If not, I suggest we all give a prayer of gratitude anyway for our blessings! May what’s supposed to happen, happen!
