LDS Church Reports Status Of Missionaries and Members Following 7.5 Earthquake in New Zealand

On Monday morning a 7.5 magnitude earthquake rocked New Zealand. The quake was followed by a tsunami. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed that all members and missionaries are safe and accounted for.

Two people died as a result of the earthquake. The earthquake and tsunami caused substantial damage to roadways and train tracks.

Latter-day Saints in Christchurch, New Zealand are gathering food, water and other supplies to send by helicopter to aid people in North Canterbury where the earthquake struck hard.
